Well, yes, it may be a lot of money. But there are also plenty of people who, for various reasons, don't or can't have a satellite dish, and aren't able to have cable either. For them, the Freeview subscription is the only option, unless they want to watch it online. While the sort of people who post on here may be happy to do that, there are also lots of people who either lack the technical savvy, or would just prefer to watch on the big screen in the living room

£40 a month for 3 sports channels? thats extortionate when you can get them for the same price with a 100s of tv channels bundle with a sky hd box. think ill just get espn seein as sky wants to rip me off for having freeview, im not directly giving them a penny! espn seems like a good compremise for weekend football and i reckon is the only coice worthwhile to get on freeview. you can subscribe to your teams live streams anyway off of their websites for pennies below the premier leagu too if your interested.

Hi,
Alot of info above, espically from Nigel.Thanks. But all of this technical info sometimes flies over my head.
Anyway, I am looking to get sky sports for my caravan that i use over the summer holidays. There is a built in freeview within the tv. A couple of Q's.
1; should i only purchase a box via 'top up' as they do the CI+ box as the current ones that are widely available are on the old CAM style?

2; I'm i allowed to bring the box home or move the box to a different location if req'd?

3; are there cheaper boxes on the market with no connection fees etc and all i have to do is pay 'top up' £30 p/m for both sports 1 & 2?

I would like a recordable one but £130 for the box plus £30 p/m for the sports is steap for my hols. Ideas or is it tough?
